- Bring any t-shirt designs you may have and we'll vote on a design.

Tin Type workshop
Bake sale fundraiser

See you then!
Greetings fellow photography lovers!

I hope this post finds everyone in good spirits and that you’re all enjoying your semester!

First, for those of you who have paid your $5 dues, it is greatly appreciated! For those who haven’t paid but still want to get involved, please pay asap! You can also give your money to Todd, Haley, or Toni and they will gladly pass it on to me. Just make sure we get your name so we can keep track.

Second, for anyone who is unaware, there is a national organization known as the Society for Photographic Education (SPE), and they are a great resource to learn about photography and to network with other photography enthusiasts and professionals. If you’re interested in becoming a member, I encourage you to visit their website for more information (I’ve posted the link below). Yearly student memberships are $55.

If you’re interested in SPE, then you’ll more than likely be interested in attending their national conference in San Francisco, which takes place on March 22-25. Yes, that’s during spring break, which means you won’t have any homework to make up since you won’t miss any classes. The keynote speaker this year is Sally Mann! If you’re not familiar with her work, I suggest you look her up because she’s pretty amazing! Shree, our fearless leader, is an active member of SPE and would like to take a small group of students to the conference. I’m planning on going, and if you want to learn more, just go to SPE’s website. Registration opens on November 15th and for student members, the cost is $90.

That's all for now, and I hope everyone has a great week!

Field Trip

In case you missed it......

Photo Club field trip this Saturday, October 15th. We will be going out to the Konza prairie area and hike around, shoot some photos, and just hang out with one another. If you're new to photography this could be a time to ask some questions and get some pointers from people who have more experience. We'll meet out in front of Willard (the side opposite the Chemistry Hall) at 10:30am and then car pool out there. Plan to be out there a couple of hours (it won't be an all day thing), wear comfortable shoes, bring your cameras, a bottle of water (there's not any place to get water out there), wear sunscreen and anything else you want to bring along. No pets though.

See you then.
